My current piece is not going to work. Why? Because, though I love the characters and premise, my hero is not going to grow in the most important way: he's not forced to sacrifice to save the girl. What I thought a big step on his part was diminished during editing last night, and I don't know how to fix it. Argh!
If you want some help there, I am rolling up my sleeves :)
ReplyDeleteHi Stranger, it's the thing as we get more experienced with writing. We become our own critics BUT it's a good thing. You start to recognize things you could/should change, question your characters and scrutinize the conflict like never before. It's a sign the craft side is getting better. You just need to stick with it!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the offer, Ju. Trust me, I know you're there, just trying to send something close to finished.
ReplyDeleteHey Kaily. Here's hoping you're right. I don't want to get three quarters of a way through a long and only then realize my mistake. Eek, can't even imagine how much hair I'd tear out in that situation. :)
